New North Western Titans coach Andrew Fielden is keen to help build the baseball club even further.
The Titans have made massive inroads in recent years, including forming a women’s program and getting more junior sides on the park.
As the club looks to further develop their men’s, women’s and junior programs, they’ve appointed Fielden as coach.
Fielden said he didn’t know much about the Titans, but was excited by what the future could look like.
“It’s a growth area and they’ve built a really strong program and are looking to develop the club into the future,” he said.
“I met with Danny [Haymes] and sat down and spoke about the growth of the area and what they were looking to do and the growth every year. I’m very excited to get involved.”
Fielden joins the Titans having been the club coach at St Kilda the last two years. He’s also been involved in coaching the Southern Mariners immediate team for the last four years, having been involved in baseball his whole life.
The club is looking to have three to four senior men’s teams for the upcoming Summer League season.
The division 3 west side finished fourth last season.
Fielden said they were already looking to recruit players and were hoping to have an even stronger program this season.
He said they were also looking to add an extra women’s side. Last season they had two teams in division 3 west, with their top side winning the title.
“We’ll look to have two to three teams, especially with all the youth coming through.”
Fielden said the biggest thing for the club was providing a pathway for the kids coming through.
“We want to keep building the foundation by developing the juniors,” he said. “They are the future of the club.
“We want to build a strong foundation skill wise and allow success across the whole club. We want to have a successful year on the field.”
The Titans will start pre-season for the summer season in the next couple of weeks.
