Melton council has begun a major upgrade to an important road link in the Cobblebank area, in order to connect residents with future health and education facilities.
Bridge Road will be extended to cover the distance between Ferris Road and Adelong Boulevard and the Ferris Road intersection will be upgraded to include traffic lights.
The new longer road will give residents better access to a future secondary and primary school, the future Melton hospital, Cobblebank Stadium and the Atherstone and Robinsons Rise estates.
City of Melton mayor Goran Kesic said the extension to Bridge Road would service much-needed facilities planned for the area.
“This is an exciting project that will lay the groundwork for some vital new services to soon become a reality in the City of Melton,” Cr Kesic said.
“It’s not just about the education and health facilities already planned, it’s also about attracting even more of the services our community needs.
“Council has committed to this important project, which will unlock the unlock the full potential of Cobblebank and we look forward to its completion.”
