The department of health has released the latest COVID data, showing an increase in new cases for both Melton and Moorabool.
As of midday today, Melton has recorded 774 new COVID cases in the last 24 hours, compared to 558 new cases reported yesterday.
Moorabool has seen a slightly less significant increase, reporting 60 new cases today compared to 58 yesterday.
There are now 4059 active cases in Melton and 335 in Moorabool.
Meanwhile, Ambulance Victoria recorded its second “code red” alert in the space of a week.
The alert was issued just after midnight on Tuesday, with Ambulance Victoria warning the system was facing “extremely high demand” across metropolitan Melbourne.
Ambulance Victoria urged the community to use Nurse on Call services or report to a GP if they did not have an emergency illness.
The alert stayed in effect for more than three hours.
A “code red” alert was also issued overnight last Wednesday.
