Help develop your child’s reading skills

Ballan library is hosting a talk tomorrow for parents and carers to learn more about how they can develop children’s language and literacy skills.

The free ‘Speechie’ talk will feature presentations from a member of Speech Pathology Australia.

The one hour presentation will include how to engage young readers, selecting the best books, how to support multilingual children through reading and what to do for children with reading difficulties.

This presentation will also include a reading of one of the association’s Book of the Year winning titles in the birth to three-year-old category.

A study done by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare revealed that one in five Australian children are developmentally behind in their language skills before they start school.
