The Victorian government has announced it will be giving support to Victorian’s impacted by recent storms by providing generators to those most affected.

Storms in Victoria last week brought on thousands of calls to emergency services, with many residents still without power across the state days later.

The government will deploy 200 generators as well as additional compensation for households affected by prolonged outages.

Extensive damage to the electricity network has left about 1,500 customers without power into this weekend.

Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio said: “The outages have had, and continue to have, a big impact – that’s why we’re providing further financial support for those affected.”

Energy providers will directly contact impacted customers this week.
