Creating little bookworms

Children at Eynesbury kindergarten have been given the opportunity to participate in a new reading program.

The Little Readers program is a Resimax Group initiative and is “a great opportunity for kindergarteners to get acquainted with reading before they head to school,” a spokesperson for the group said.

Currently, there are no reading programs in the government curriculum for kindergarten, so Resimax wanted to work with the local Eynesbury kindergarten to “help foster avid little readers in the community.”

The group has donated 80 books and ‘Little Readers’ library bags to the kindergarten as part of the program, which encourages children to start reading at a more advanced level usually seen in primary school.

During lockdown, teacher and nominated supervisor Janet Heaney delivered books and book bags to the kindergarteners at home.
