Two arrested after Melton pursuit

Two men have been arrested after they were allegedly caught in a stolen vehicle in Melton this morning.

Police said officers were patrolling in the vicinity of Clarks Road, Brookfield, when they spotted a white Skoda travelling at an alleged speed of 131km/h in a 60km/h zone about 4am.

The alleged driver of the vehicle, a 23-year-old Armstrong Creek man, allegedly failed to stop when police attempted to intercept the vehicle.

Police said they pursued the vehicle and deployed stop sticks before the vehicle came to a stop a short time later in Melton South.

The driver allegedly fled on foot but was arrested nearby.

The 30-year-old male passenger from Melton allegedly fled and was located hiding in a nearby paddock by the police canine unit.

Both men remain in custody and the investigation is ongoing.

The Skoda was allegedly stolen from an address in Golden Square on 9 October.
