Band on the rise

Band Scarlet Chaser is set to release a new album later this year.
The group is made up of Tim Shaw, Andy Medancic and Gavin Shanks, who live in Werribee, Tarneit and Melton.
Scarlet Chaser last month released the single … Until Daylight, from their forthcoming album, Vision Vision 2020.
Drawing influences from AC/DC, The Beatles and the Ramones, other songs on the album will include J-Bomb Soda Pop, Holy Sister Of Grace and Like OMG WTF.
Medancic said the band formed in Werribee, back in 2005.
The band released a self-titled EP that same year, which reached the top 10 of the Triple J Unearthed Rock Charts for bands.
They went on to play at the now-closed Melbourne Hard Rock Café, festivals, small clubs and bars.
Medancic and Shaw attended high school together, and Shanks lived next door to Medancic for years.
“One of our first shows out of high school, we played the Weerama Festival actually, which was super fun to play in front of the town,” Medancic said.
“Music is life. Doing it with these guys makes it exciting and fun being the style the music is.”
Shaw said that as musicians, self-criticism was the biggest challenge they faced.
“I remember when we recorded our first EP back in 2005, kids fresh out of high school, you know, never stepped foot into a real recording studio and to sit in recording sessions for like 10 hours a day and do the same thing over and over can get daunting,” he said.
“But then you hear the finished product and you just think, ‘Wow, we made this from nothing’,”
