Police probe suspected shooting

Police are investigating a suspected shooting and car crash in Melton South overnight.

Police were called to Kurrajong Crescent just after 3.30am following reports gunshots were heard in the vicinity and a car had crashed into a power pole.

It is believed the driver, a Melton woman aged in her 20s, lost control of her car after a shot was fired into the front of her vehicle.

Nearby residents have told police they heard a vehicle leaving the scene, however the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still being established.

The area has been cordoned off and a crime scene set up. 

Police say no one has been injured and the woman who was driving the car is assisting police with their inquiries.
