Melton is going along happily and quietly in Bowls Victoria pennant division 2.
After setting high expectations last season and not reaching them and going down a division, Melton has been focused on just getting the job done this season.
And it is working, with their two division two sides, one in section 1 and one in section 2, exactly where they want them.
Melton’s Conrad Dawson said they were quite happy with how things were travelling.
“Obviously we have one side in the same section as Bacchus Marsh which is doing well,” he said.
“We’re in the middle of the table in that section. The aim was to keep that side around mid-table and survive as it’s a tough section.
“The section two team is sitting second and pushing to get a side back into division 1.
“They look they will play finals with a good lead over the other sides.
“We’re quietly achieving.”
Dawson, who is playing in the section two side, said both teams have had their ups and downs, but overall things were going well.
Their division 3 side is sitting just outside the top four.
“Last year we had a lot of expectations and we didn’t achieve them,” he said.
“This year we’ve just set some key targets and we’re on track to achieve them.”
The division 2, section 1 side dropped their bundle on Saturday against Werribee in the first game back after Christmas. Melton lost 85 (16)-71 (2).
In division 2, section 2, Melton beat Keilor 83 (14)-71 (4). Colin Norris and Ray Gnjidic were the winning skips for Melton.
They sit in clear second, with top side Craigieburn a runaway leader, 37 shots clear.
Meanwhile, Bacchus Marsh had a winning return beating Strathmore 97 (18)-55 (0) in section 1.
Troy Williams, Phil Minniti, Daniel Willis and Ethan Higgns were the winning skips for Bacchus Marsh.
Bacchus Marsh sits second, just one point behind Port Melbourne.
