World record attempt

Soccer enthusiasts are being called to Rockbank’s Frontier Park this weekend to try and make their mark.

The park at Woodlea is set to be overrun when an attempt at the Guinness World Record for the World’s Biggest Football (Soccer) Lesson is made.

The current record for the greatest number of people attending and participating in a soccer lesson at a single venue is 705 people, achieved in Poland on April 8, 2018.

Woodlea sales and marketing manager Lora Djurdjevic said the attempt continues a strong history for their soccer lessons in the area, and with 5000 people currently living in Woodlea the record could easily be smashed.

“Woodlea is all about creating a community that encourages families to lead an active, healthy lifestyle,” Ms Djurdjevic said.

“Now in its fifth consecutive year, this will be our biggest soccer clinic yet.

“We are so thrilled to be hosting a fun, family-friendly event that really is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of history and help bring the title of World’s Biggest Soccer Lesson to Australia.”

The record attempt will take place on October 26, and feature former Socceroo Kevin Muscat and Matildas striker Kyah Simon – who has her own world record as Australia’s first indigenous athlete to score at a FIFA World Cup.

The lesson will also feature a number of former Brazilian professional players, and is open to all ages and skill levels. Each official Guinness World Records attempt participant will receive a free soccer ball.
