Care expo offers support

By Ewen McRae

More than 70 services for seniors, carers, or locals living with a disability will be available at this week’s CARE Melton Expo.

The expo will give people the chance to talk directly to the service providers and gather information and solutions for improved care, independence and support.

Attendees can also participate in a free relaxation workshop and network with people who share similar experiences.

Melton deputy mayor Lara Carli said the expo was a great opportunity to gain more support and learn about the services on offer in the municipality.

“If you think you might need additional support, or perhaps you’re struggling to find the right care locally, the expo can help,” Cr Carli said. “It’s a chance to explore how local service providers and resources can enhance your lifestyle, role and wellbeing.

“Come along and have your questions answered, discover improved care options, meet others, and join in the relaxation workshops.

“Residents with a disability, their families and carers can explore the many new opportunities that became available under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), and our older residents can learn what’s available to support their independence or provide their future care.”

Some of the exhibitors include the NDIS, Brotherhood of St Laurence, Carers Victoria, Centrelink, Australian Hearing and Vision Australia. The CARE Expo will be held on Thursday October 17, from 10am-2pm at the Melton Community Hall.
