Students at Bacchus Marsh College will be at the cutting edge of science and technology, after their swank new facilities were officially unveiled last week.
The new $8 million science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) centre was opened by education minister James Merlino and local member Steve McGhie last week.
The upgrades also include a Material Technology building, which includes a workshop and resources for students to experience hands-on learning in design and construction.
Mr Merlino said the new facilities opened up some exciting opportunities for local students.
“These new and upgraded facilities at Bacchus Marsh College will nurture new passions for STEM subjects and prepare students for their future careers,” Mr Merlino said.
“Every student deserves access to modern school facilities and that’s what we have delivered for Bacchus Marsh College.”
Mr McGhie said it was exciting to see such a strong investment in the future of the region.
“This exciting new STEM centre will give Bacchus Marsh College the modern facilities it deserves to better meet the needs of students and teachers,” he said. “Our local schools are doing a fantastic job educating the next generation of leaders. These new facilities will open even more doors for our local students.”
The upgrades are part of a $5.6 billion state government package to deliver new and upgraded schools, with more than 1,400 school upgrades planned or completed.
