Gretel Grove sale shows kids the value of clearing up

Gretel Grove residents are having an epic garage sale this weekend.

Amanda Revell is hoping to have her street transformed and jam-packed with bargains.

“I wanted to have a garage sale and thought it wouldn’t take too much more effort to involve the neighbours,” she said.

“I printed some flyers and did a letterbox drop.”

This is Ms Revell’s second attempt at organising a street garage sale.

“Last time, it rained, poured, and the day was miserable. But we had 30-plus groups come through and they were all positive.”

Teaching the kids about discipline and customer service was a priority for the Melton mother.

“A big part of it was to get the kids involved, have them go through their belongings and make a few dollars,” she said.

“It was a good experience for the kids – what do people do when they go to garage sales, how to treat customers.”

The garage sale will be from 9am-3pm, on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, at Gretel Grove, Melton.
