Get ready for a whole new world of entertainment, when Melton Christian College stages its production of Aladdin Jnr this month.
Following in the footsteps of the iconic 1992 film, and the hugely successful Broadway musical, Aladdin Jnr has been adapted for high school-aged performers, and features all the classics that fans will remember.
The college’s musical will feature a cast of 30 students, telling the story of lovable rogue Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, and the fast-talking, wisecracking Genie as they discover mystical caves, take magic carpet rides, and outwit the evil sorcerer, Jafar.
Director Derek Bendall said: “It is amazing how far we have come in the last decade, with the quality of performance and stage crafts,” Mr Bendall said.
“From our humble beginnings with a set piece that was a piece of canvas, to digital projected scenes. Similarly the quality of the singing, acting and dancing is incomparable to the early years.
“I love finding the diamonds in the rough. Helping them to reach their full potential is exactly what I love doing.”
The show will be at the college from July 26-28, with tickets available at ticketebo.com.au/meltonchristiancollege
