Five years after being launched, Melton’s One Big Day has been recognised as one of the state’s best in bridal.
The business was last month named as the Victorian wedding hire business of the year at the Australian Bridal Industry Awards.
Founder Tim Dall said it was great to get recognised by the wider industry.
“It was a bit of a shock – we all just went along to see what it was all about, so to get the win was very exciting,” Mr Dall said.
“I guess it means that our standards are up there as one of the best in the business and that we’re quite competitive in the industry.
“It means all our hard work and the long hours … haven’t gone unnoticed.”
The business started in Mr Dall’s backyard, hiring out vintage and rustic items for weddings and events, but quickly grew and soon expanded into other areas.
“It’s a family-owned business that’s grown out of a mutual love of planning events,”
Mr Dall said. “There was a bit of niche in the market for something in our area.
“It soon grew too big to run from home, so we’ve moved to a warehouse and now we need to expand again as it’s still growing.
“We’ve got a lot of unique items …our clients love that we spend time getting to know them and helping them see their vision come alive.”
