Bacchus Marsh on the map thanks to tourism volunteers

Volunteers of Bacchus Marsh Tourism Association all have one thing in common: they love their town.

The association, which is made up of volunteers, is known for helping put Bacchus Marsh on the map with popular events like the Strawberries and Cherries weekend, which attracted more than 18,000 visitors last year.

And as the association grows, so does the work it takes on. It’s now welcoming new volunteers to help in areas such as marketing, public relations, event co-ordination, copy-writing, event logistics and website management.

Association treasurer and Bacchus Marsh Caravan Park owner Peter Crotty has volunteered since the association was formed.

“We’re looking for people who are keen,” he said.

“They don’t necessarily need specific skills, but any skills or experience they have can add to what we currently have.

“We conduct events to be a showcase of Bacchus Marsh. It’s an opportunity for us to show visitors what we have on offer so they may return with family or friends.”

Mr Crotty said he was proud to be part of the association which engaged with and was supported by the whole community.

“We feel we’re achieving something worthwhile,” he said. “There’s an element of pride.”
