Four years old and still shiny-new, this appealing house of about 37 squares is fitted out with top-notch fixtures and fittings and has a decor stamped with class.

Glossy honey-toned floating floorboards combine with off-white walls and roller blinds in most rooms and smatterings of natural timber to deliver an interior with strong attraction. And because the owners have chosen red as the accent colour in furnishings, the downlight-studded dropped ceiling above the kitchen has a trim in that colour, cleverly bringing it all together.

The first of three living zones is to the right of the entry hall and, handy for visitors, there’s a powder room across the way.

The main bedroom opposite is a real treat, with a fitted walk-in wardrobe easily big enough to serve as a dressing room, and a large (there’s no stinting on size at this place) en suite with dual raised basins on a vanity unit with loads of storage, and a (big) shower. Three more bedrooms, a separate toilet and a smart bathroom are at the back, wrapped around a rumpus room/children’s retreat.

The beating heart of any home, the kitchen here is one that family cooks
and entertainers will relish. It has an island bench, topped with soft-latte
stone and able to easily seat five for breakfast; a glass splashback in the same subtle tone; rich chocolate-toned cabinetry; an integrated microwave, dishwasher and 900mm cooker; and a very large walk-in pantry which accesses the laundry.

From the family-meals area where the floorboards appear to stretch for miles, timber-framed doors slide right back to allow free flow to an integrated outdoor room (large) with ceiling fan. This space looks out to a stretch of lawn and perimeter planting, all neat as a pin and easily maintained.

Ducted heating and a split-system take care of Melton’s changing seasons and the double garage has internal access.

This fine property is in an up-and-coming area on the city fringe, where young families can enjoy a sense of community as it grows around them.
