Melton Hockey put up a fight against PEGS but still fell short in Hockey Victoria Women’s Vic League 2.

Looking for their first points of the season against the ladder-leading PEGS, the Mustangs were able to score twice, but it wasn’t enough, losing 4-2.

Denique Dekelmans scored both goals for the Mustangs.

Amy Schwarze was named the Mustangs best in the loss.

The women’s metro B north west team though broke through for its first point of the season, drawing 4-4 with Altona.

The Mustangs men’s Vic League 3 side pushed Craigieburn Falcons all the way in their match on Sunday.

The Falcons though, got home, winning 3-2.

Andrew Arnold and Steven Lawerence were the goalscorers for the Mustangs.

The scores were reversed in the Melton and Falcons pennant G match, with the Mustangs winning 3-2.

Riley Lawrence, who scored twice, and Ryan Self got the goals for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs masters side lost 1-0 to KBH, while their metro B team lost 1-0 to RMIT.

The weekend saw the junior competition kick off.

The under-10 girls lost 2-1 to Footscray, under-10 Green lost to Altona 1-0 and under-10 Maroon lost to Footscray 5-3.

The under-12 district north west team, won 5-0 in a walkover against Essendon, while the other under-12 team in pennant central north west lost to La Trobe University 3-1.

The under-14s beat Footscray 5-1, while the under-16s beat Greensborough 3-1 and the under-16s lost 2-0 to Goulburn Valley.
