The popular Sons of the West program, promoting a healthy lifestyle for local men, is returning to Melton for another year.
The Western Bulldogs Football Club developed Sons of the West in 2013 to promote health, improve wellbeing and prevent disease in men living or working in Melbourne’s west.
Each week, participants will get active with new challenges tailored to their fitness levels, and every session will open with a presentation from a different expert in men’s health.
Melton mayor Bob Turner encouraged all men aged 18 and over who live or work locally to consider giving Sons of the West a go. He said the program’s back-to-basics approach to health was perfect for men of all fitness levels.
“It can be difficult to make time to get active and to know what health advice is right for you. Sons of the West is such an accessible tool for local men to make that lifestyle shift,” Cr Turner said.
The 10-week program includes workshops, presentations, events and fitness sessions, and is designed to make exercise and healthy lifestyles fun, achievable and enjoyable.
There are three programs kicking off in the next week; one in Caroline Springs and two in Melton.
Each participant in the program will be offered a free three-game membership to the Western Bulldogs.
