Guide to botanics

There will be guided tours of Melton Botanic Gardens during the Sustainable Living Festival. See plants that tolerate a dry climate and low water conditions; find out how the Friends of Melton Botanic Garden are achieving environmental sustainability through solar energy, rainwater use, recycling, reusing and repurposing. Free tours are on Sunday and next Friday, February 27, at 10am. The plant nursery will be open for purchases.

Summersault festival

The Summersault festival will have everything from market stalls to carnival rides, live entertainment and an epic fireworks finale. From 2-10pm, Saturday, at Town Centre Recreation Reserve, 19 The Parade, Caroline Springs.

Kids get going

Kids Get Active sessions start at 9.30am every Monday from February 23 to March 30 at the Kurunjang recreation reserve, 74 Centenary Avenue, Kurunjang. Parental supervision required.

Melton council is offering free outdoor Pilates classes, ideal for beginners, at 10am every Tuesday from February 24 to March 30 at the Town Centre recreation reserve, 20 Becca Way, Caroline Springs.

Tennis heart-starter

Get your heart pumping and tennis racquet swinging at free cardio tennis sessions, 7pm every Wednesday, from February 26 to April 2, at the Melton South Tennis Club, Northcott Street, Melton South.

Making melodies

Melton Melody Makers offer a free singalong and social group at Melton South Community Centre every Tuesday at 10am. Bring a plate to share.

When you need a friend

Men and women with mental health issues can find support at weekly sessions at the new Melton South Community Centre, 41 Exford Road. Sessions are Mondays at 10am for women and Mondays at 7pm for the blokes. They’re non-judgemental and very friendly, run by volunteer professionals.
