Can they fix it? Yes they can

An initiative aims to get handy Melton residents together over fixing bits and bobs.

The Melton South Community Repair project, facilitated by Djerriwarrh Health Services’ health promotion team, provides a free opportunity to meet people with an interest in tinkering and do-it-yourself repairs.

Djerriwarrh chief executive Belinda Scott said the Community Repair project, co-ordinated by Linking Melton South, focused on building a strong and vibrant community.

“It is a great way to build relationships, share knowledge and get to know people in your neighbourhood,” Ms Scott said.

“Every month a dedicated group of volunteer fixers encourage people to bring down their broken goods to connect and learn from one another, helping to reduce the amount of landfill, and creating a more supportive, connected community.”

Ms Scott encouraged anyone interested in taking part to attend an upcoming session on the last Saturday of each month from March 30 at the Melton South Community Centre.
