Arnolds Creek Primary School pupils are enjoying the peace and tranquility of their new sensory garden.
The garden, officially opened last week, was designed with the school’s ties to indigenous and Japanese cultures in mind.
Principal Frank Pawlowicz said the garden, which includes a water feature and amphitheatre, provides a peaceful and relaxing environment for staff and pupils to enjoy.
“We were privileged enough to be awarded a grant to construct a sensory garden and creative an outdoor learning space for our students,” Mr Pawlowicz said.
“A sensory garden benefits all our students and helps those with individual needs also.
“The colours around the concrete as well as the plants are all inspired by indigenous Australian and Japanese cultures.
“Arnolds Creek is based on heritage ground from our indigenous past and the school colours also reflect that, which is why this garden is special.”
The sensory garden was constructed with a $200,000 grant from the state’s inclusive schools fund.
