Farmers, orchardists and vegetable growers will celebrate the fruits of their labour in Bacchus Marsh this weekend.
Thousands are expected to descend on Main Street on Sunday to join in the annual Bacchus Marsh Harvest Festival, which showcases the best produce the area has to offer.
Bacchus Marsh Tourism Association president David Durram said there would be something for everyone.
“The festival was once associated with the gathering of fruit and vegetables to provide people with enough food to last all winter, but harvest is now more about boutique eats, music, merriment and entertainment,” Mr Durram said.
“This season we have a lot of apples and pears, we have some really great food and fruit vendors. And one of the popular attractions is the flight simulator, which will be run by the local gliding club. We have plenty of strawberries still in season because of the hot weather. And now is a good time for apple picking, with a few different varieties around.”
Other highlights of the event will include tractor displays, scarecrow decorating and gumboot throwing.
