Bacchus Marsh aged care-residents are delighting in their weekly visits from a dog circus.
Papillons Rusty and Qed have been winning the hearts of residents at Providence aged-care by performing stunts, skateboard tricks and playing the piano.
One of their owners, volunteer Robyn Youl, said the canine cuties worked the room for cuddles and pats, bringing residents a little joy along the way.
Ms Youl and husband Barry began volunteering with their pet show after they retired 20 years ago.
“We started out with labradors and schnauzers, but they became a bit much to handle, so we downsized to papillons,” she
said.
“It’s a lively show. Qed often has days on strike.
“The residents just love it when he rebels and ignores my commands!”
The Youls, who live in the adjoining Providence retirement village, both had parents who lived at the aged-care residence.
“The joy on the residents faces as they interact with the dogs is plain to see,” Ms Youl said.
