Lisle aligns with Melton South

Melton South is hoping to have VFL star forward Jordan Lisle available to play a handful of games at the Ballarat Football League club this year.

Lisle, who is still playing with Port Melbourne in the VFL, has nominated the Panthers as his home club this season.

Panthers coach Heath Pritchard hoping that Lisle will be able to play with them when he doesn’t have VFL commitments.

Pritchard said looking at the fixture, there was four games where Port Melbourne had the bye and the Panthers were playing.

“He’s still playing at Port,” he said.

“I’ve had a relationship with Jordie for a long period of time having been at Port Melbourne. We’ll be a home club for him and hopefully he will play full time for us once his time in the VFL finishes.

“It’ll give him a good look at the club before that time in the VFL finishes.”

Lisle, who played 23 AFL games for the Brisbane Lions and Hawthorn, has been a standout in the VFL in recent years.

He has twice won the Frosty Miller Medal as the VFL’s leading goal kicker. Lisle captained Port Melbourne last year.

Pritchard said Lisle has indicated that he was starting to get to the end of his VFL career.

“He is a good player and a good guy,” Pritchard said.

“He ticks a lot of boxes of the players we’re after and is a proven performer. He still has a lot to offer.

“Hopefully he’ll get a few games in for us and provides a target up forward.”

Pritchard said Lisle might not be the only VFL listed player aligned with the club this season.

The signing of Lisle is the second major one for the Panthers.

They announced last year that former Carlton player Paul Bower had joined the club.
