Caroline Springs Scouts have been expanding their horizons interstate and overseas – and now they’re back and buzzing with stories from their travels.
Dozens of Scouts from the local troop converged on Tailem Bend in South Australia earlier this month for the 25th Australian Jamboree.
More than 12,000 Scouts attended the annual 10-day event.
Scouts Alora and Hayden and leader Carolyn Pemberton were selected to be part of the Australian contingent that travelled across the ditch for the Illuminate 14th New Zealand Venture.
The group travelled the country undertaking a variety of adventurous activities.
Another member, Xavier, spent the school holidays on an exchange trip to Denmark.
Caroline Springs leader Claire Mouser said the adventures were “once-in-a-lifetime experiences”.
“This is where they get to show their own resilience,” Ms Mouser said. “They get to show their leadership skills and pick their own adventures.”
She said that the troop was looking forward to many more adventures at its new home base in Caroline Springs, with its $1.6 million hall due to open next month.
“The hall has involved eight years of planning and fundraising,” Ms Mouser said.
