It’s that teatime again

Joan Gauci Quigley is gearing up to host Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, again.

The Bacchus Marsh resident and one of the state’s most successful fundraisers for the Cancer Council Victoria will host her second morning tea next month.

And internet sensation, Sunshine grandmother Nonna Paola, will be Ms Quigley’s special guest.

Ms Quigley, who has a family history with cancer, has raised more than $150,000 with Girls Night In for the Cancer Council Victoria. She said she felt it was time she hosted a morning function. Although her previous morning tea was more mellow than Girls Night In, it was a way for her to inject extra money into the council and raise extra awareness.

Ms Quigley raised about $1000 at last year’s morning tea and is hoping to beat that this year.

“Cancer’s too common; you’re never too old or young to get the disease,” she said. “One day maybe there could be a cure.”

She hopes to have sponsors on board to cater the morning tea in Tarneit from 10am to noon on Friday, May 29. The tea is free but RSVP’s are needed by Friday, May 15.

And her famous Girls Night In will be at the Luxor Reception, 503 Sydenham Road, Taylors Lakes, from 7.30pm-1am, Friday, October 23. Tickets are $100.
