Rockbank examines female future

By Tara Murray

Rockbank could field female football teams for the first time next year.

Responding to interest within the club, the Rams have decided to seek expressions of interest from the wider community.

Rams football operations manager Gavin Sporle said female teams were the next step for the club.

“We’ve had a few people ask about it around the club, so we thought we would see the interest from outside the club,” he said.

Sporle said any teams the club may field would likely play in AFL Goldfields competitions.

As well as looking at players, the club was looking for coaches or anyone else who wanted to be involved.

The Rams have seven girls in their under-11 team, which plays in the boys competition.

Anyone interested in playing can contact Gavin on 0450 947 109 or register interest at rockbankfsc.com.au.
