Hot to trot for a top gig

Get set for a night of harness racing, fun and fundraising.

The annual Charity Race Night, hosted by the Rotary clubs of Melton and Melton Valley and Tabcorp Park, has raised more than $125,000 for various not-for-profit organisations over the years.

This year, the money raised will go towards Foodbank, Gap on Graham and Cancer Council Victoria.

Melton Rotary treasurer Brendan Richards said the target organisations were doing invaluable work in the community and needed financial help.

“It makes a tremendous difference for them,” he said. “Last year, we raised $18,000 so each organisation got $6000. Imagine Foodbank getting all that money. They don’t just give goods. They talk to people about budgets as well.”

The event involves races, silent auctions, raffle tickets, entertainment and a three-course meal. It will start at 6pm on Friday, October 26, at Tabcorp Park, 2 Ferris Road, Melton South.

Tickets cost $50 and must be purchased by October 15. Details: 8746 0626
