Bacchus Marsh’s return to Ballarat Netball League A-grade finals wasn’t a happy one.

After many years of missing out on finals action, the Cobras faced Lake Wendouree in an elimination.

Lake Wendouree started the better of the two against an undermanned Cobras and led by seven goals at quarter-time.

The margin was doubled at half-time as the Cobras were kept to their lowest quarter score of the match.

The Lakers blew the margin out to 23 goals at the last break and saved their best to last, scoring 17 goals to nine in the final quarter.

Final scores were 64-33.

Katie Kakoschke, who was moved from defence to up forward, scored 20 goals from 32 attempts for the Cobras.

As a team, the Cobras shot at just 66 per cent accuracy.

The Lakers now face Sunbury Lions in a knockout semi-final. The Lions were upset by North Ballarat City. East Point will play North Ballarat City for a spot in the grand final.

The Cobras C-grade side had a better weekend, defeating Lake Wendouree 37-26. They will play the Sunbury Lions for a spot in the grand final.

Darley will play Ballarat in the other final after they beat East Point, 40-37.

In another Cobras and Lakers match-up, the Lakers defeated the Cobras 38-18 in their D-grade qualifying final.

The Cobras have a second chance and will face East Point.
