Two offenders on the run after Melton stabbing

A 14-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after he was stabbed by two unknown offenders at a park in Melton.

Police cordoned off part of a reserve near High Street in Melton on Monday evening as they investigated the attack.

The teenage boy, of nearby Kurunjang, had been walking along the footpath just before 6pm when he was approached and assaulted by the two men, who then fled on foot.

“What we’re looking for is two Caucasian males, one who we believe is in his middle to late teens, and the other possibly in his late 20s,” Detective Senior Constable Shannon Symons said on Monday night.

After the attack, friends of the teen who were nearby came to his aid and called police.

Paramedics were called to the scene at 5.59pm.

The boy was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition with upper body injuries.

Police have been working on targeting youth crime in the city’s western suburbs through Operation Wayward, which spans from Wyndham to Melton, where detectives are focusing their efforts on the most prolific young offenders.
