Crafters are being called on to get creative with textiles as part of a new exhibition.
Contemporary artist Chaco Kato will host workshops as part of her three-week residency at Melton libraries this month.
Kato’s exhibition and workshops will kick off a series of textile programs designed to engage local families and arts and craft enthusiasts in making art with fabric, wool and yarn.
Her signature medium is large-scale shelter-like installations made from string.
Melton mayor Bob Turner said residents should make their way down to either Caroline Springs library or Melton Library and Learning Hub to take part.
“The libraries will be transformed; what an excellent way to get the community involved in arts and culture around the city,” Cr Turner said.
“We’re very lucky to have Chaco Kato come down and share her skills, experience and creativity with us, and I look forward to seeing the finished works.”
Free family workshops, adult workshops and DIY sessions will also be available for locals to join in until June 24.
