Funds delight for Djerriwarrh Health

Djerriwarrh health

A funding boost will mean better equipment and more training for aged-care staff in Bacchus Marsh, according to Djerriwarrh Health Services.

Health services across the state will share in close to $6 million of new grants to be rolled out this month.

Acting chief executive David Grace welcomed the news that Djerriwarrh’s Grant Lodge would receive assistance.

“Many residents of Grant Lodge have special needs that require specialist equipment to manage well,” he said.

“Specialist equipment used here includes electronic beds, lifting equipment and pressure-relieving mattresses.

“Over time we are seeing the needs of our residents change. Dementia is a significant issue for many of our residents … we aim to ensure that our staff have the most current training in helping residents with dementia and other aged- care issues.”

Grant Lodge has qualified doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and diversional therapists who provide 24-hour care.

Mr Grace said Grant Lodge had a reputation for providing the best care.

“Nursing and other health professional training programs are an important part of ensuring that the health service continues to provide a high standard of care into the future,” he said.
