Australia’s knights came away with the Queen’s silverware at an international jousting competition in England.
Kryal Castle resident knight Phillip Leitch lead the national jousting team to victory at the three-day Royal Armouries International Easter tournament at Leeds which wound up on April 2.
It was the first time Australia was invited to the world’s only Royal-sanctioned jousting tournament where the team dominated England, France and Poland.
Jouster Sarah Hay won the prestigious Queen’s Jubilee Horn and together with the team claimed the coveted Sword of Honour.
Leitch said the team was ecstatic with its success.
“What an awesome weekend,” he said. “A huge thank you to everyone involved, especially our fantastic knights, our horses, our ground crew and of course the amazing audiences.”
The world champion jouster is headed back to Kryal Castle to run the school holiday program.
