A cracker for family: 22 Barry Street, Maddingley, 3340

On about 1510 square metres in a peaceful family-oriented neighbourhood, this character-filled residence comes with the perks of a detached one-bedroom unit and a smashing outdoor area and pool.

Families will love this place because it has something for everyone.

Teens or extended family can snaffle the unit which has bamboo floating floorboards, a walk-in robe and en suite; the kids can have their friends over for a dip in the fenced solar-heated salt pool, while the grown-ups relax under a giant pergola with timber bar and built-in barbecue; and there’s a shed with power and workbenches for the family tinkerer.

The well-kept house has timber ceiling with exposed beams in most rooms, crisp-white wall paint, some exposed brickwork and a mix of boarded, tiled and carpeted flooring in appropriate spots.

Entry is into a carpeted lounge-dining room incorporating a study nook, which has a wood heater set in exposed bricks. This connects with the kitchen, a meals zone under conservatory-style glass ceiling and huge family room with another wood heater and an air-conditioner.

The kitchen has plenty of timber cupboards, marble-effect benches, a servery bench atop open display shelves and stainless-steel dishwasher, wall oven, integrated microwave, and cooktop under a canopy rangehood.

Of three fitted bedrooms with ceiling fans, the carpeted main has an en suite incorporating an open wardrobe. The other two have tiled heated flooring, perfect for messy kids. The main bathroom, decked out in grey and white, has an enclosed toilet, while the laundry has a closet.

Other items of note include a double carport, water tanks with about 15,000-litre capacity, lush and well-established gardens at every turn, CCTV, and a remote-controlled double garage with power connected.

The unit, positioned at the bottom of the garden behind the pool, would make a great games room/pool house if not needed for accommodation.
