Bacchus Marsh Gold kept its season alive in Central Highlands Bowls’ top division.
Facing Kyneton in an elimination semi-final, Gold needed to turn around the result from the previous week when it lost to Kyneton.
It was a thrilling match, with the biggest margin between the rinks five shots, as it went down to the wire.
Gold claimed the win 98 (16)-96 (2).
Shannon Clements, Justin Webster and Phil Minniti led the winning rinks for Bacchus Marsh.
Gold now faces Gisborne for a shot in the grand final, after Gisborne lost to Kyneton Golf in the other semi-final.
Golf became the first team through to the grand final after an upset win against Gisborne.
Gisborne entered the match the in-form team after a number of good wins late in the season, but it meant little on Saturday. Not much separated the teams all day, with each team winning two rinks, but it was Golf that got the victory, winning 86 (14)-80 (4).
Stephen Taylor and Ricky Turner led the winning rinks for Golf, while Matthew Bacon and Sam Boslem won the rinks for Gisborne.
In division 2, Gisborne Red won through to the grand final with a big win against Diggers Rest.
Kyneton won by two shots against Macedon and will now face Diggers Rest in the preliminary final.
In division 3, Romsey will face Trentham or Macedon in the grand final.
In Bowls Victoria Pennant, Melton’s season in division 1, section 1 ended on Saturday. Already out of finals contention, Melton faced bottom side Altona (2). It was a disappointing end to the season for Melton, losing 84 (14)-79 (4). Melton finished eighth.
