Man dies after being struck by motorcycle in Footscray

A man has died after being struck by a motorcycle in Footscray early Monday morning.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision on Moore Street just before 12.30am.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital in a critical condition with head, chest and leg injuries, but died a short time later.

The motorcycle rider, a man aged in his 20s, was treated for an ankle injury and taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition.

The death follows a fatal motorcycle crash on Ballarat Road in Footscray on August 18 in which a man in his 40s lost control on tram tracks in slippery conditions and struck a pole shortly before 4pm.

Anyone who witnessed either collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
