Attempted murder charge

A 53-year-old Wyndham Vale man has been charged with attempted murder after a man turned up at hospital with a gunshot wound. The charge relates to an alleged crime in Altona North on May 19. Police said they became aware of the incident at 1am the next day when a 25-year-old man from Point Cook attended hospital. Detectives raided a house in Marne Avenue, Wyndham Vale, on Tuesday of last week, allegedly located a shotgun, pen pistol, taser and shotgun ammunition.

Fountain returns

A drinking fountain will be re-installed in Martin Reserve, West Footscray. Maribyrnong planning services director Nigel Higgins said that as a result of community feedback, the council would return the fountain to the Essex Street park and upgrade it to include three dog-drinking bowls.
