Volunteers form the backbone of Djerriwarrh Health Services.
Ten of those vital helpers were honoured for their long service with an award presentation and lunch in Bacchus Marsh earlier this month as part of National Volunteers Week.
Between them, the 10 volunteers have been helping Djerriwarrh Health Services from 10 years up to 55 years.
Collectively, the group has dedicated almost 300 years to the hospital’s auxiliary, Aboriginal community groups, consumer representatives, friendly visiting, hospital kiosk, transport, Meals on Wheels, Melton Health, Grant Lodge, the family violence prevention program/ women’s program and palliative care.
At the lunch, chief executive Andrew Freeman paid special tribute to “an extraordinary 55 years of continuous and dedicated service to the health service” by Pamela Broad and Heather Linsdell.
Mr Freeman said acknowledging volunteers that have provided Djerriwarrh with a decade or more of dedicated service was important.
“Djerriwarrh Health Services is extremely appreciative of the contribution our volunteers make on a daily basis,” he said.
“The work our volunteers carry out is critical to the success and vitality of Djerriwarrh Health Services and I want to thank all our volunteers for their hard work year after year.”
