These Sydenham-Hillside Primary School pupils are taking out their bikes, scooters and skateboards and hitting the footpaths as part of national Ride2School day.
Melton council is encouraging students across the municipality to do the same. Mayor Sophie Ramsey has urged parents to leave the car at home and get their children to ride, skate or scoot to school this Friday.
“Physically active children are healthier, happier and more socially connected than children who have passive lifestyles, and are more likely to be active adults, resulting in health benefits throughout their lives,” Cr Ramsey said. “For families who can’t ride the whole way, the Part Way is OK program is a great option – pick a point to park the car and ride the rest of the way.”
