Two arrested after Melton South stand-off

UPDATE: 

Two people have been arrested following a six-hour stand-off at a Melton South house.

A 15-year-old girl and a man believed to be in his 30s were arrested when police entered the house just after 3pm on Friday.

Police had been at the property since 9am when a man, allegedly using a chainsaw to cut a power pole, barricaded himself in the house.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Belinda Batty said the man will be treated for minor injuries.

 

EARLIER:

Police are negotiating with a man who has refused to leave a Melton South property.

The man, who was allegedly using a chainsaw to cut a power pole on Friday morning, went into the house about 9am when police were called.

Police said the man threw several lit fireworks at officers.

The Critical Incident Response Team is in attendance

Police can not confirm if the man is alone in the house.
