Melton has taken a liking to the T20 format, with the Lions off to a blistering start in Victorian Premier seconds T20 competition.
Having won their opening match against Prahran by 93 runs last weekend, the Lions faced a double-header on Sunday.
They started the day playing Dandenong, and then faced Essendon Maribyrnong Park in the afternoon.
In the first match, the Lions were sent in, making 7-101 off its 20 overs. Laura Shaw top scored at the top of the order making 29.
Dandenong pushed the Lions the whole way, before being bowled out for 89 with four balls remaining.
Shaw and Janelle Hayhurst took two wickets for the Lions.
It was a little easier against Essendon Maribyrnong Park in the second game.
Essendon Maribyrnong Park elected to bat but struggled to get going, making 8-95.
Kerri Garwood, Jessica Surace and Hayhurst were the pick of the bowlers taking two wickets each.
The Lions made the runs with ease, with five wickets and three and half overs to spare.
Surace top scored making 17, as five players made between 10 and 17 in the chase.
The two wins on Sunday put the Lions on top of the ladder after three matches. They are one of two undefeated teams along with Carlton-Brunswick.
So far, the Lions are undefeated this season. They’ve won two one-day matches to go with four weather-enforced draws.
They sit second on the one day ladder, two points behind Ringwood.
