Moorabool council chief executive stays in top job

Moorabool council’s chief executive Rob Croxford will head the organisation for another five years.

Mr Croxford and mayor Paul Tatchell signed the chief executive’s new contract of employment at last week’s council meeting following the unanimous support of councillors at the previous meeting.

Mr Croxford, who has been chief executive for four and a half years, said it was a privilege to continue to serve the Moorabool community.

“I greatly appreciate the confidence council has shown in me,” he said. “Looking to the future, the challenges are significant and we are already making plans and changes to be flexible and responsive as an organisation.”

Mr Croxford said he had seen significant progress in planning during his time, with the council now considering what the community would look like and what it would need in 2041.

He said the challenges ahead included financial sustainability, population growth, asset management and the digital economy.

“I have prepared a series of articles that expand on the challenges and I’d welcome community engagement and conversation on any issues raised.”

Mr Croxford is also on the Regional Development Australia board and involved with the Regional Managers Forum and the Central Highlands Mayors and CEO Forum.

Cr Tatchell said Mr Croxford’s reappointment was important for stability at the council.

“Rob has extensive management experience in local government, outstanding strategic ability, intimate knowledge of the organisation and a good track record to date,” he said.

“These qualities are what we want in a CEO, to tackle the challenges ahead. We have the utmost confidence that Rob remains the right person to lead the implementation of council’s strategic plan.”
