Diggers Rest to face Riddell

Diggers Rest will have to beat Riddell if they want to finally end their premiership drought in Riddell District Football League.

The Burras had the week off after winning through to the grand final the previous week, while the Bombers took on Broadford in the preliminary final at Lancefield.

The Bombers lead at every break as the Kangaroos struggled in front of goal. The margin was 20 points at the final change.

The Kangaroos threw everything they had at the Bombers in the last quarter, but were again left to rue poor kicking in front of goal.

Despite having nine scoring shots to three in the final term, it wasn’t enough, and the Bombers won 6.14 (50)-8.6 (54).

In the reserves, it will be a repeat of last year’s grand final after Sunbury Kangaroos defeated the Bombers to set up a match against Diggers Rest.

The Kangaroos won 14.13 (97)-10.11 (71).

The Burras under-18.5s season came to an end, with Woodend-Hesket coming from behind to seal a grand final spot against Rupertswood.

The Hawks kicked the last five goals of the game to win 11.11 (77)-9.4 (58).

In the netball, Melton Centrals season came to an end in the C-grade competition, losing to Riddell.

Riddell will play Macedon in the A-grade grand final, Rupertswood and Riddell will face off in both the B-grade and C-grade grand finals, while Rupertswood will play Macedon in the under-19s.
