RDFL: Melton Centrals thrashed by Rupertswood

Melton Centrals suffered its biggest loss of the Riddell District Football League season on Saturday.

The Centrals proved no match for Rupertswood, going down by a massive 113 points.

After enjoying a round one win, the Centrals have now lost four games in a row, causing the side to slip to 11th on the RDFL ladder.

It will be another tough task for the Centrals this weekend as they try to break the drought, taking on one of the competition’s premiership favourites, Diggers Rest.

The Burras go into the match full of confidence after a day out against Woodend Hesket on Saturday.

Diggers Rest smashed the Hawks by 92 points on the back of six goals from Luke Smailes.

Also impressive for the Burras was Stuart Clarke, who booted four goals, while around the ground Mark Freeth and Brandon Kilty both worked hard.

Diggers Rest is now in sixth position on the RDFL ladder with a 3-2 record. The Burras’ early losses have come at the hands of the Sunbury Kangaroos and Romsey.

In other weekend results, Broadford defeated Rockbank, Romsey smashed Kilmore and Riddell defeated Lancefield.
