Moorabool’s musicians put on the record

Moorabool’s musicians are being invited to step into the spotlight as part of a local music competition.

Bacchus Marsh’s Apple FM has teamed up with recording artist Col Millington to find the shire’s best musos and give them a shot at recording a professional demo.

The winner will join Millington in his studio to record professionally with a view to impressing record companies.

Millington said he hoped the opportunity would open doors for musicians and help build their careers.

“There’s a lot of talent in the area,” he said. “There’s a lot of people that have good voices and don’t know where they’re going and how to get there.”

Millington said the local competition would give those in the area an opportunity to showcase their talent in a way that national talent shows did not.

He is encouraging all musicians to have a go – from piano players to guitarists and singers.

“If you think you’ve got any talent at all, especially if you’re an original artist writing your own songs, have a go,” he said.

“If you don’t have a go you’re never going to find out.”

To enter, send a song or music piece to wednesdays1@hotmail.com or a cd posted to Annette Langlands 979 FM, PO Box 979, Melton 3337. Entries close on September 30.
