Bugle call to honour at Kurunjang Secondary College

Kurunjang Secondary College students have been given an insight into World War I as part of the centenary celebrations.

The school was chosen to host the roadshow Victoria’s Journey of Remembrance on Thursday and it was a huge hit with the kids.

“When we had the Last Post [the students] stood up quite respectfully and handed around a [70-year-old] bugle,” head of humanities David Gorton said.

Ian Lawry and David Childs, from the Melton and Bacchus Marsh RSL, gave a speech to remind students that the war lasted four years.

Students then visited the Anzac Centenary website to view their family histories before heading home with an information pack containing a letter from Premier Dan Andrews, booklets and a children’s peace medal from 1919.
