Bacchus Marsh with percentage boosting win

Bacchus Marsh kept a hold on second spot in the Ballarat Football League ladder with a percentage-boosting win against bottom side Melton South on Saturday.

The Cobras flew out of the blocks in the first quarter, with a massive 14 scoring shots to show their intentions early on.

The Panthers hit back to win the quarter by one point, but couldn’t maintain the intensity and went down 22.17 (149)-5.6 (36).

Cameron Richardson was the standout up forward for the Cobras with six goals, as half the team got on the scoreboard.

Marc Dransman was the only multiple goalscorer for the Panthers with two.

In the upset of the round, Darley handed Lake Wendouree its first loss of the season in a thriller at C.E. Brown Reserve.

The Devils had to do it the hard way, coming from behind at every break to win 13.14 (92)-12.17 (89).

The Lakers looked on track at half-time to keep their 10-match winning streak alive when they led by 39 points.

But the Devils had other ideas, kicking 10 goals to three in the second half to take the win.

Dane Grenfell kicked three goals for the Devils, while Darren Leonard and Anthony Chui were best on ground.

The win moves the reigning premiers back into the top six.

Melton kept its finals hopes alive with a 32-point win against Sebastopol.

With the exception of the second quarter, the Bloods controlled the match winning, 15.12 (102)-10.10 (70).
