Burnside man dies after Plumpton quarry crash

Police and Worksafe are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man after the truck he was in rolled over at a Plumpton quarry this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to a quarry at the intersection of Leakes Road and Melton Highway after a tip truck rolled over at about 11am.

The driver of the truck, a 61-year-old Burnside man, was airlifted to The Alfred hospital and died shortly after arrival.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
